Week 11 - Still in the Validation Phase: Why Building the Vision Is Harder Than It Looks

The Honest Truth About Early-Stage Products

We are still firmly in the validation phase.

Even though we have a clear vision for what AI Grammar Mentor could become, we’re constantly reminded how difficult it is to turn that vision into something users immediately understand and love.

This is one of the hardest parts of building a new product: you see the full potential so clearly, but users often don’t — at least not yet.

The Gap Between Vision and User Perception

We keep noticing the same pattern:

  • We know the long-term goal is to create a powerful, engaging learning tool that helps people truly improve their writing.
  • Users, however, mostly see a grammar checker — nothing more, nothing less.
  • Many don’t yet understand (or trust) the deeper learning experience we’re trying to build.

That mismatch is completely normal at this stage, but it’s also frustrating. It means we still have work to do to bridge the gap between what we’re building and what people instantly recognize as valuable.

Sometimes the idea feels too ambitious or too vague from the outside. People need to experience the benefit quickly and clearly before they can believe in the bigger vision.

What This Phase Really Means

Being in validation mode means:

  • Constantly testing assumptions against real user behavior
  • Accepting that your beautiful internal vision might not yet be obvious to others
  • Iterating fast based on what people actually do, not just what you hope they’ll do

It’s a humbling but necessary stage. The products that eventually succeed are usually the ones that survive this uncomfortable period of “people don’t quite get it yet.”

Staying Focused While Shipping

Our job right now is to make the value as obvious as possible with every small improvement. Clearer onboarding, better explanations, faster results, and more intuitive learning features — all of it serves one purpose: helping users feel the benefit quickly.

We’re making steady progress, but we know we still have a way to go before the vision clicks for most people.

Try It for Yourself

If you’ve ever felt that grammar tools were missing something — that they fix your text but don’t really help you get better — you’re exactly the kind of person we’re building for.

AI Grammar Mentor is still early, but it’s already more than just another checker. Paste any text and experience the current version for yourself.

You might be surprised how much clearer and more helpful the suggestions feel compared to other tools.

No sign-up required. No pressure. Just try it and see what you think.

We’d love to hear your honest feedback — the chat bubble is always there.
